adventures

I like to travel when time and money (or student loans) allow. These are the cities and countries I've traveled to so far and I have all intentions to make this list longer.

Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Grad school brought me here twice in 2010 - the first time for the University Research and Entrepreneurship Symposium and the second time for a educational class trip. By day we were able to meet with some exciting lawyers from Choate (they truly were exciting), the venture capitalist group known as General Catalyst, and a few of their start-up investments like Jumptap, Visible Measures, and Hubspot. By night we enjoyed some great live music, Irish and Italian dining, and managed to squeeze in a Red Sox game.

Peru
As part of a volunteer group with Students Offering Support, we spent a week in the desert-like environment of Pisco working on a greenhouse project. On our time off we were able to go sand-dune boarding in Ica before jetting to Cuzco for some hiking in the Sacred Valley of the ancient Incans. Beautiful country and fascinating people. Tried alpaca and guinea pig for the first time - it wasn't too bad! The only regret was that the famous Macchu Pichu site was closed due to landslides the week before our arrival - oh well, just another excuse to come back here again!

Netherlands
The most memorable six months of my life were spent in the Netherlands as an exchange student at Tilburg University. Living in an apartment building with fifty other exchange students gave me more insights about cultures and countries than any academic course ever has. Favorite memories include a football match in Rotterdam, visiting Bleiswijk and Lisse - the towns my grandparents were born, kayaking in Friesland, spending Queen's Day in Amsterdam and the numerous bike rides to the Lamme Goesak disco in Tilburg. London, England
Three days was just not enough in this history-rich country but I was able to see quite a bit in the time I was there. Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and several other landmarks aboard a double-decker bus. Accidentally buying "Rock n' Roll" tickets thinking it was Queen's "We will Rock You" remains a hilarious memory of mine - a communist drama just didn't measure up to a live rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.
